Project Spotlight: Matchbook

Goal: To build an exchange on peer-to-peer trading. Rather than have customers pay a specific price, customers can set their own price on offerings, and accept the offers as given by other customers. This removes the liability on behalf of the book, and places it on to the customers. The exchange makes its money by taking a small percentage of the trade volume.

Solution: Using a mix of proprietary and opensource framework, Widget Factory built a large distributed system which includes processing complex trading rules and business logic. The site has been in production since 2006 and has done millions of dollars of trade in real time with a zero per cent error margin. It includes advanced administrative features that allow complete control over the markets, trades and users.

Project Spotlight: Fantasy Sports Revolution

Goal: Create a fast paced fantasy sports gaming experience that is deep enough for the hard-core player and accessible enough for the novice. The system needed to support customized rules, new sports and promotional contests.

Solution: Widget Factory created a customized fantasy sports platform for FSR. This platform allows the system to accept input from multiple stats sources (including manual stats entry). Our customized algorithm for payouts allows the contest administrators to offer contests that will appeal to all players. Adding new sports is a breeze with our carefully designed extensible gaming framework. Scheduled jobs automate the vast majority of the administrative tasks while still allowing the administrators to control users, contests and contest entries.
